HOSPITAL PATIENTS WE CARE/I CARE DONATION
February 22, 2013
As part of Indigo Threads Rural Village Programs, we frequently help families in crisis, taking us to hospitals for critical emergency care. Southern Lao hospitals are clean and efficient but do not provide basics. Family members must attend to their loved one, bringing in food, water, linens, sundries and purchase their medications daily. Hospitalization is catastrophic anywhere but attending rural family members must also find accommodations for themselves, often in the hospital corridors, sleeping on straw mates and cooking. It’s a heartrending scene that is agonizing to see. Some of these patients and families are our students’ mother, father or relatives. When such a family crises occurs, the children are needed at home to care for their young siblings rather than attend school
This year we chose to donate bath towels and bar soap directly to the patients with our good wishes for a speedy recovery. Other years it has been cold drinking water. Indigo Threads hospital patient towel/soap Program wins out, anticipating to continue our WE CARE/I CARE Program throughout the year. Thank you Head Nurse, Ms.Jantinel, for your empathic gracious assistance.
