Projected School Health Fair February 2011
January 16, 2011
Indigo Threads 3rd annual expanded Student School Health Check-Up Program is just 3 weeks away, to include 9 impoverished rural primary school students, the first weeks of February. As the only health care students receive, the Program supports wellness, allowing students to attend school daily. When students become sick, they often miss a month of school, fall behind and drop out of school.
Anticipating 1,300 students and teachers participation at their individual schools, Indigo Threads Director Mary is seeking a generous donation of toothbrushes/toothpaste and multi vitamins to be distributed to the students at the Health Fairs. We are asking you and/or your company to ‘step up to the plate’. If available, one toothbrush would be shared with all family members. Multi vitamins and good nutrition, in conjunction with Indigo Threads healthy School Lunch Program, develops a strong body and an educated mind. Time is of the essence. Can you help us?
The Health Fair is sponsored by Indigo Threads in cooperation with Pathoumpone District Health Service and Education Departments. District doctors and nurses provide each student with a general examination. When a serious ailment is detected, parents are informed. Indigo Threads takes this opportunity to educate students with healthy Lao food choices, personal hygiene awareness, wellness and other health related demonstrations. And we make it a fun fearless event for our engaged students.
Photos posted are from Indigo Threads two previous Healthy Fairs, while new photos will be posted in our 2011 Health Fair Report after our February event.
Photo: 2009 was Indigo Threads first School Student Health Fair with 4 primary rural schools participating. It was the first time an Organization had provided this type of health care examination for students. It was so successful we made it an annual event, each year adding additional schools.
Photo: Six primary rural schools participated in Indigo Threads 2010 Health Fair with 700 students and teacher receiving a general examination from District doctors and nurses. Student growth and development statistics are gathered by the Health Services Department.
Photo: Indigo Threads staff presented multi vitamins donated by CBF Pharma, Pakse, and a small gift to students after completing their examination. Mr. Orahan, District Eduction Director, capped background, explains healthy Lao food choice demonstration.
Numerous photos and details of Indigo Threads 2010 Student School Health Check-Up Program are available on the blog, "Students School Health Fair 2010", May 25, 2010. Our February 2011 Health Fair will be similar with more students participating and additional health related demonstrations.
Indigo Threads Director is seeking yearly corporate sponsorship for Indigo Threads annual Health Fair while intending to expand the Program to additional schools giving more students the benefit of a once a year health examination. It is an excellent opportunity for a sponsoring company to promote their appropriate health related product. We welcome all inquires.
Sabaidee Greeting from Mary D. Meyer/Executive Director
