"THEY HAD THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES"

“THEY HAD THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES”

Children laughing, sliding, bouncing, rolling, jumping with ecstatic shrills, while competing with Lao’s traditional deafening music; approximate 300 rambunctious young students and area rural village young children joined INDIGO THREADS special 8th anniversary celebration, Tuesday, January 22, 2013.  Not to be forgotten, numerous village Chiefs, teachers and parents joined the festivities at Louyta Primary School, Indigo Threads 1st constructed and donated school in 2007. Our celebration was intentionally scheduled during the students’ semester break.

Recently an enterprising Pakse couple introduced child safe bouncy slide entertainment to the area.  Expanding their well-managed business to 3 slides throughout the region, most often they are set up at village festivals and markets, charging 5,000 kip each (about 60 cents).  Great ‘hands-on’ people to work with; we’ll certainly do it again.

Giving these kids the opportunity to experience something they would not otherwise, makes me a proud Indigo Threads ‘grandmother Falang’.  I never go to bed at night asking myself why, why Laos' Mary.  I know why!  It’s for all the Laotian children that have so little and difficult lives.  Their happy faces and laughter fill my heart with compassion, commitment and energy.
IT’S FOR AND ABOUT LAOS’ RURAL POOR CHILDREN

Opps, somehow the camera was left behind.  Intending on presenting my favorite village Chief with a disposable camera, it came to our rescue.  Unable to develop the film in Pakse, it will have to wait for LaQuinta’s Walmart and posted celebration photos.  Update: The disposable camera was too old.  Sadly, we did not get 1savalable photo.

Photos are at a Village Festival when negotiating for Indigo Threads celebrations.
