Miss Laa and her husband are expecting their first child in July.  She works with Indigo Threads School Lunch Program.  She is, also, Boonpanh's sister-in-law.  She and Boonpanh prepare, cook, transport and serve 1200 school lunches per week for the students at their schools.  We are happy to report she will return in September when our school lunch program resumes for the 2007-2008 school year.   Miss Laa's photo is in the photo journey on our web-site.  She is preparing food in Indigo Threads kitchen
Good wishes to Miss Laa, her husband and almost due baby.  Good health to all.

P.S.  Boonpanh has worked with Indigo Threads Director since early 2005.  He is
         Ms. Meyer's  Laos  assistant.

Miss Outsawan, one of three Indigo Threads Pakse Teacher's Training College scholarship recipients, presented Indigo Threads Director with a beautiful handwoven Talieng ethnic textile from her village in the Sekong District.  Miss Outsawan is completing the first year of a three year program to become a secondary school teacher.  She, as well, as the other two recipients were selected from the Ethnic High School in Pakse City.  This summer she will be returning home to her village, a full day's bus ride, to help her family with the rice harvest.  Miss Outsawan is a good student and takes her studys seriously.  Her scholarship will again be awarded  for the 2007-2008 school year.

If you are interested in Indigo Threads scholarships to provide teachers for rural areas, please visit our donation page.  This fall we would like to double the number of scholarships awarded.  You can  make a difference.
