JOMPHET TEMPLE, Don Kho Village, Laos

June 8, 2010

Photo:  Jomphet Temple is the largest Buddha statue in Laos, located North of Pakse on Hwy. 13 at Don Kho Village.  Constructed from tons of concrete, it is impossible to imagine its awesome size as you can see from Atiane's photo.

Photo:  The entire tranquil massive Temple complex has a number of inspirational worship areas.

Photo:  Atiane was inspired to revisit Jomphet Temple, giving thanks for his good luck during the past 5 years while asking for continued gifts.  Atiane received Indigo Threads first college teacher training scholarship and is teaching English in his rural District.

Photo:  Under the entire length of the huge Buddha structure, there is an enclosed  solemn worship area where friendly Buddhist nuns offer their blessings.

Photo:  Another awe inspiring area in the underground worship area.

Photo:  Numerous beautiful handcrafted pieced prayer flags fly throughout the Temple complex.

Please Note:  Jomphet Temple is not a tourist attraction but like all Buddhist Temples everyone is welcome.   It is a wonderful tranquil break from life while not being inundated by crowds of people.
