STUDENTS SCHOOL HEALTH FAIR-2010

PICTURES  RELATE  A  THOUSAND WORDS

Photo:  Pathoumpone District Hospital Doctors examined 700 student at 6 different assisted schools at Indigo Threads 2nd Annual School Health Fair during the 4-day event.

Photo:  Although many students were familiar with their non invasive examination as many had participated in Indigo Threads 2009 School Health Fair, the medical staff masks caused some apprehension.

Photo:  When prescribed, Indigo Threads filled students prescription medications.

Photo:  Each student received vitamins and a small gift after completing their examination.  CBF Phama Co., Pakse, generously donated a large quantity of vitamins for Indigo Threads supported School Health Fair.

Photo:  Indigo Threads took the opportunity to present a healthy food choice demonstration with examples of the 5 basic food groups.  Mr. Orlahanh (R), District Education Department Director, waits for the students to complete their examination before explaining the importance of making better dietary choices for a healthier life.

Photo:  The toddling 'kinder' students provided entertainment for all.  Two primary schools out of the 6 participating schools have kindergarten classes.

Indigo Threads is projecting another successful 2011 School Health Fair.  The yearly Health Fairs are important as they are the only health care students receive.  It is our intent to help parents maintain their students  health, allowing them to attend school everyday.   When students become ill, they may miss a month of school, fall behind and sooner then later, drop out.   Indigo Threads School Lunch Program operates in conjunction with the students well being, addressing chronic malnutrition and hunger.

We are anticipating expanding this cost effective Program to additional primary schools with a twice-a-year follow up.   We are in need of donations of 1,000 bar soap, 1,000 toothbrushes/toothpaste and the same amount of multi vitamins.  As shipping these items are prohibitive, perhaps consider a donation to cover the costs allowing Indigo Threads to purchase these items in Laos.  At your convenience, contact me for additional information.
